Chocolate Biscuits or “Chocolate Nest”
Once again a sweet recipe on the blog…I promise I’m planning to put some savory recipes here really soon. But these little chocolate nest are very good and easy to make. I definitely wanted to share the recipe with you. Moreover, as you already know, I love all kind of biscuits. The savory ones (you can find recipes here and here) and the sweet ones. Cookies, sablés, plain or with different flavors, chocolate, jam, lemon… I like to eat them with a comforting cup of hot tea. And it can also be a great gift for friends and family. It’s always nice to receive a homemade treat 😉.
For all of these reasons, I have a cookbook that I love at home, Martha Stewart’s Cookies : The very best treats to bake and to share. I recommend it if you like to have a jar of biscuits at home for unexpected guess. Or just because, like me, you love to treat yourself 😁.
I have tried a lot of recipes in this cookbook. And these chocolate nest are one of our favorite. Everyone enjoy them at home, young and old alike 😉. They are simple to bake and very cute with their chocolate heart.
Enough talking, let’s go to the recipe now!!
Chocolate Biscuits
Ingredients
Biscuits dough
- 115 g butter at room temperature
- 100 g icing sugar
- 175 g flour
- 1 pinch sea salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate ganache
- 45 g butter at room temperature
- 85 g dark chocolate
- 1 tsp maple syrup ((I didn't put it, there was enough sugar for me :)))
Instructions
- Preheat the oven at 180 °C.
- In the stand mixer with the flat beater, mix the butter, icing sugar, salt and vanilla during 2 min at medium speed to obtain a smooth mix.
- Add the flour and mix again on low speed until you obtain a ball. Don't overwork the dough, we don't need to develop the gluten here!
- Roll the dough in small pieces of a walnut size and put them on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Leave some space between them, they will spread a bit.
- Cook in the oven for 10 min. Put the tray out of the oven and make a hole in the middle of the biscuits with a measuring spoon (you can do it with your thumb but it's hot!)
- Put back the tray in the oven for 8-9 min, they just need to be slightly golden, not brown.
- Then, take them out of the oven and reshape the hole if necessary. Let it cool.
- While the biscuits are in the oven, make the ganache. Put the chocolate and butter to melt together and (add the maple syrup if using).
- Mix well with a whisk until you have a smooth mix.
- Fill up the hole and leave it at room temperature to cool down.
Notes
Enjoy!!
